The lack of accessible support groups or guidance did not deter our School President, Anne Marie Makilan a doting mother of Christopher Gabriel Makilan Araña, who was diagnosed with Global Developmental Delay back in 2009.
They have been spending huge amount to support Christopher with medical and therapy services in Manila, where they have to travel practically every month.
Thinking about all those families who have special member in their respective family, and who have limited resources and facilities; thinking about all the other mothers going through these challenges every day, has led our school president to her God's purpose in life.
Christopher has taught her to give without asking, be patient in adversity, courageous beyond her capacity, believe in miracles and persevere tirelessly and advocate for children with special needs. Thus, the birth of Happy Beginners School of Learning, in Nov. 15, 2012 Main Branch in Bacolod City. Ten years after, more children coming from the south who cannot continue with their intervention due to the distance and lack of private vehicle. As she feels other parents sentiments in spending huge amount in fare, this lead to the opening of Happy Beginners School of Learning Inc.
It is our mission to facilitate each child's development and growth as a child of God through a wide variety of experience, activities and opportunities for learning. We aim to inspire children to reach their maximum potential, through a variety of teaching strategies, while promoting positive personal growth and creating foundation for a lifelong learning.
Happy Beginners School of Learning Inc. is a learning center where each child shall be molded in all aspects of his personality to enable him to become active and productive member of the community.
• Inculcate Christian attitudes, behavior and values;
• Provide the individual needs of each learners to help them become a functional member of the society
• Develop each child's social-emotional skills, creativity, independence and curiosity for learning and involving parents and the community.
